Safety

Safety is of paramount importance to the trialling, development and public acceptance of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) solutions.

To support the safe trialling and deployment of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) solutions, Midlands Future Mobility (MFM) provides manufacturers and technology developers access to controlled, semi-controlled and public road environments on which to conduct trials of highly connected and automated vehicles, as well as infrastructure trials in support of next generation V2V, V2X and V2I connectivity.

For on-road vehicle trials, a detailed safety case is required prior to the trial commencing to demonstrate through sufficient evidence that the activity is safe enough for the public road.

MFM can support businesses in conducting on-road trials via established contact with Local Authorities, road operators and experienced automotive companies. Support to develop your safety case for on-road trialling can be provided, alongside provision of route hazard information to determine the most suitable route within the MFM test bed for your trial.
